The “Energy Log” is a laminated product with a core of 2 lb high density expanded polystyrene (EPS), fire rated (self extinguishing). This EPS provides an R-4.7 per inch. The glue used in the lamination process is an EPI resin. This glue has been tested and exceeds the ASTM 2559 standard. This is the most stringent standard for laminated softwoods.
Logs at the corners of the building are insulated core logs with 16” inches solid laminated log corner ends (no corner extensions needed).
Logs are fastened together utilizing timber screws or equivalent.
Logs are dry and inspected from inside out -
- Logs are dried to below the equalized moisture content of wood for the construction site.
- No moisture related movement or settling of the logs.
- No settling systems are required.
- Virtually no checking, as with our standard laminated log profiles.
- Corners, joints, and laps stay sealed over time.
- Weight – Logs weigh approximately 50%-60% the weight of traditional logs significantly reducing construction effort.
Warranty - The Energy Log carries the same limited Lifetime Warranty as our solid logs.
The “Energy Log” has a R-20 insulation value.
